Georgia is our heart, she is playful and loyal sometimes she can be timid.

The Healing Species Rescue Sanctuary is the most magical place on earth. It sits in SC on a small (13 acre) fully fenced-in rural woodlands, with individually fenced living parcels where "dogs of last resort," dogs no one else would even see, find, or take, old dogs, sick dogs, injured dogs, unsocialized dogs who have lived their whole lives at the end of a chain, find refuge, respite, healing, & rehabilitation. From here, these dogs either get adopted into wonderful, highly-screened, loving homes, OR THEY BECOME PART OF our school classroom, award winning, Compassion Education (trademarked) & Violence Intervention curriculum. 

Your support of this "heaven on earth" for those who have been so mistreated, abused, & un-seen, not only helps us rescue dogs- but helps us allow these dogs to themselves become healers & living examples for school children. The dogs demonstrate & offer "hands on experience" that our past does not define us.  We teach "rising above" "hate for hate," & that "Bullying for bullying" is never the answer / is not the path to our "best selves." Our curriculum teaches: basic steps of asking for & finding help if in abuse; overcoming one's past; self-mindfulness & awareness, awareness of others around us; & making choices deliberately & consciously. We teach our students that they are allowed to dream big & how to take baby steps, one in front of the other, toward their dreams. This program helps every child, no matter their socio-economic status, history, or circumstances, on how to enhance, hone, & further develop social & emotional skills & awareness.
